National battery supplier commits to putting Far North Queensland kids in the spotlight
Cairns, QLD — Sealed Performance Batteries (SPB), one of Australia’s leading suppliers of automotive, marine and energy storage batteries, has today announced an exclusive season-long partnership with Star 102.7 as the naming sponsor of the Biggest Little Taipan promotion for the 2026–27 NBL season.
It’s a commitment that will see SPB stand behind a Cairns family at every single Kenfrost Homes Cairns Taipans game from September 2026 through to the final home game in February 2027 — not a one-off appearance, but a full season of showing up for the community at the Cairns Convention Centre.
A season-long celebration of Cairns kids
Throughout the season, Cairns families can register their child at Star1027.com.au for the chance to be crowned that game’s Biggest Little Taipan. Every winner walks away with an official Kenfrost Homes Cairns Taipans jersey, a mini Taipans basketball, and four Gold seats so the whole family can cheer the team on together from the best seats in the house.

That thinking shaped the decision to commit for the entire season rather than a handful of games. “Sponsorship is easy to do badly,” Price added. “You can write a cheque, get some airtime, and move on. We’d rather do something that a family in Cairns will still be talking about at the dinner table that night.”
