The range available includes:

OFF Grid Applications – Wanting to go completely off of the grid? You’ll need to carefully consider your daily power usage, location and number of days you want in reserve to cover for those cloudy days. Going completely off grid usually implies the following battery characteristics

  • Cycled Daily but usually to a low depth of discharge due to the capacity for cloudy days
  • Larger Capacity to cover for the required number of days autonomy (when there in little of no sun)
  • Infrequent deep discharging as this should only occur when there is a string on days with little or no sun.

These characteristics suggest the following products are most suited for those off grid applications

  • AGM PSS  & PS 6 Volt Cyclic range for the lowest up front cost
  • Tubular Gel PSOPzV range for lowest total cost over the life of the system
  • Leclanche Lithium Ion solution for larger community based off grid systems (perfect for replacement / supplementation of diesel generator power)

Hybrid Applications – Wanting to have the safety of the grid but utilise you solar generated power when grid power is most expensive? Storing the energy you generate during the day and using it at night (when your tariff is high) is commonly known as peak shifting. Other Hybrid applications include peak shaving, utilising stored energy for a short period of time in order to reduce your peak usage from the grid and frequency stabilisation (both normally industrial applications)

Hybrid applications usually implies the following battery characteristics

  • Cycled daily – you want to maximisze your investment by using as much of the stored energy as possible while still ensuring you have enough to cover your peak tariff time usage
  • Relatively small capacity – since you are not using it as your primary energy source it needs only be large enough to cover your usage during the peak tariff time
  • Frequent deep depth of discharge (depending on size of system) – you want to maximize your investment and still you have the grid for back up during of peak tariff times so maximize your usage of the stored energy daily

These characteristics suggest the following products are most suited for hybrid applications

  • Tubular Gel PSOPzV range for lower initial outlay and very good cycle life
  • Leclanche Apollion Cube with extra-large cycle life and deep discharging giving greater life
  • Leclanche Ti-Box if you need to cycle more than once per day, the Lithium Titanate technology is the best option with its extreme cycles life of 15000+ at 95% DoD this is the safest and most robust of all the lithium Ion technologies
